The RNC's Cash Won't Help McCain
Fri Jul 11, 2008 at 12:27:47 PM PDT
Obama's fundraising edge over McCain is according to beltway wisdom offset by the RNC's money advantage over the DNC's. The most recent figures show the RNC has $68 million compared to only $4 million for the DNC.
The problem is, there is almost no way the RNC can spend this money on TV ads effectively.
Obama's Dumb Upper-middle-class Payroll Tax Hike
Wed Jan 02, 2008 at 06:36:36 AM PDT
Barack Obama likes the idea of getting rid of the cap on the Social Security payroll tax, which is 97,000 this year.
This is a horrible idea, both politically and economically. First, upper-middle class earners, like the rest of the USA, have been suffering through the Bushonomics just like the rest of the country, though obviously not to the same extent. They are also a big source of votes.
The very rich are too small in number to matter much on election day, but those making $100,000 to $200,000 per year are a huge swing-demographic. CNN's 2006 exit poll showed 13% of voters claim an income of 100K to 150K, and another 5% make 150 to 200K. These groups have been rapidly trending Democrat since Bush has been in office, and split their vote almost evenly 47D/51R in the 2006 congressional elections.
Gains in upper middle class voters in 2004 and 2006 resulted in some of our most impressive victories those years in high-income areas like Northern Virginia, Connecticut, Colorado, South Florida, and New Hamphire.
Obama and his far-right code words
Mon Dec 31, 2007 at 08:34:48 PM PDT
Thank you Kos for noticing! I am a class action lawyer. Obama may as well dropped the N-word on me. My job each day is to enforce laws that protect people against big corporations. Obama's rhetoric is right out of the American Enterprise Institute. That's right, while AEI's job #1 is mongering wars, job #2 is attacking us "trial lawyers."
Among other things, the AEI and its wingnut welfare allies bankroll two astroturf blogs that do nothing but attack progressive lawyers. They are http://www.pointoflaw.com/ and http://overlawyered.com/... Obama has once again joined these corporate goons.

Let's not give a penny in the Dem 2008 primaries
Wed Apr 18, 2007 at 04:10:50 PM PDT
I call on people here not to give money to any of our fine presidential candidates during primary season. This money will be used for the candidates to tear each other down. Most it will be wasted. Think of the $50 million+ in small donations Howard Dean blew through even before Iowa in 2004. Imagine if the 50 closest challangers in 2006 congressional races had $1 million each, and you will see the tragedy of small democratic donors giving way to much to presidential primary campaigns.
Pinnacle Armor has astroturfed DailyKos

Right now on the front page, promoted from the diaries, is a distorted tale of the Army's rejection of a small and shadowy Fresno, CA company's body armor.
David Brooks: Will he "admit his errors?"
Thu Feb 01, 2007 at 10:09:46 AM PDT
What venom and idiocy the supposedly mild-mannered warmonger had for those who opposed the war in 2003. Back then, he was in full-on Bush-worshipping gloat mode.
Obama has Joe Lieberman’s habit of affirming the Republican narrative about Liberals
Fri Jan 26, 2007 at 09:15:40 AM PDT
As anyone who listens to Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter or Michelle Malkin or reads Powerlineblog.com well knows, we liberals are biased against Christians (mostly because we hate God), and oppress them at every opportunity.
Bush is STILL adding CATO Institute propagranda to Social Security annual statements!
Thu Jan 25, 2007 at 11:05:37 AM PDT
Got my annual Social Security statement in the mail today. It is full of typical libertarian pro-privatization lies, presented not as opinions but as facts. This is no surprise, as Bush has done his best to fill up the top ranks of the Social Security Administration with libertarian extremists from the CATO Institute (such as Andrew Biggs), which first hatched the Social Security Privatization scheme in the early 1980's. CATO also hired Jose Pinera, the Pinochet flunky who worked for that bloody tyrant in dismantling the retirement system that was in place in Chile.

Anybody But Barack: How Obama joined Republicans in attacking progressive consumer lawyers

This diary is about how Barack Obama, unlike Hillary Clinton and most other Democrats, voted for the odius Republican law called the "Class Action Fairness Act."
